Wounded in action, Messines, 10 June 1917 (gun shot wound, back), and admitted to 77th Field Ambulance; transferred to 55th General Hospital, Boulogne, 11 June 1917; to England, 26 July 1917, and admitted to Norfolk War Hospital, Norwich; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 7 May 1917.

Commenced return to Australia, 30 June 1918.

Died of wounds, 27 October 1919.
