'During the period 13th November, 1916 to 26th November, 1916, whilst the Battalion was in close support at FLERS and holding the front line this N.C.O. assisted the Pack Transport Convoy to this Battalion, and his example was undoubtedly one of the causes of the excellent condition in which our rations arrived. By his example and devotion to duty with the Transport he undoubtedly assisted materially to keep the horses and drivers in the condition they were in. During the above period the transport Officer was evacuated sick, and an inexperienced Officer had to be placed in charge. Sergeant DODD's assistance was invaluable.'
