Military Medal 'From the 16th to 22nd September, 1917, east of HOOGE this man showed considerable bravery in persistently patrolling and mending telephone lines between HOOGE and CLAPHAM JUNCTION - an area continually shelled heavily and subject to heavy barrages. At all times these lines were particularly dangerous to patrol and his exertion enabled telephone communication to be maintained.'
