Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in a raid. Through heavy trench mortar and machine gun fire he led his men into the enemy trench, accounted for several, and pursued others who had retired to the flank with bombs. He set a fine example to his men, and suffered very slight casualties.'
