'Near WARNETON, during raid on the enemy, on the night 30th November/1st December 1917, this man displayed conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He did very fine work in company with Private RICHARDS in searching and bombing enemy dugouts during raid, and was instrumental in securing a live prisoner. Strength of raiding party - 4 officers and 82 other ranks.'
