Embarked Sydney, 20 December 1915; taken on strength of 4th Bn, Tel el Kabir, Egypt, 14 February 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 30 March 1916.

Admitted to Field Ambulance and transferred to Casualty Clearing Station, 15 May 1916; admitted to 26th General Hospital, Etaples, 16 May 1916 (albuminaria); transferred, and admitted to, 4th Northern Hospital London, England, 6 June 1916; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 7 July 1916 (nephritis); discharged from hospital and marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 24 July 1916.

Commenced return to Australia on board HS 'Marama', from Southampton, 31 September 1916; disembarked Sydney, 17 October 1916; discharged, 7 March 1917 (medically unfit: nephritis).
