Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack. He took forward a patrol, and captured three machine guns and sixteen prisoners, killing several of the enemy, with only three casualties on his own side. His fine action greatly helped the advance, and throughout the operations he did splendidly.'
