Military Medal 'This soldier has acted in the cacacity of Brigade Runner for the period 16th/17th September, 1918, to 11th November, 1918, and has at all times without exception exhibited the greatest gallantry, daring and devotion to duty in the delivery of despatches entrusted to him. In this particular time he has never once failed or even delayed delivery, and frequently he has been obliged to pass through heavy barrages of H.E. and gas-shell in the performane of the important duty allotted to him. Further, on several occasions he was the first to volunteer to go out on particularly dangerous runs, thereby showing a devotion to duty and most praiseworthy example to all.'
