Transferred to 7th Light Horse Regiment, Moascar, 25 August 1916.

Tried by Field General Court Martial, Hill 70, 20 November 1916, on charge (1) sleeping at his post , 2100-2200 hours, 15 November 1916, while acting as a sentinel; (2) drunk, 15 November 1916; pleaded guilty; found guilty of both charges; sentenced to 9 months imprisonment with hard labour. Court recommended commutation of the sentence of the grounds of good character and the fact that Driscoll was 'practically a teetotaller' and that the drink caused him to fall asleep.

Admitted to Detention Barracks, Cairo, 30 November 1916; unexpired portion of sentence suspended, 20 January 1917; rejoined Regiment, 21 January 1917.

Embarked for the Dardanelles, 10 December 1918.

Embarked Chanaki, 26 January 1919; disembarked Alexandria, 31 January 1919.

Commenced return to Australia from Kantara on board HT 'Madras', 27 June 1919; disembarked Sydney, 3 August 1919; discharged (termination of period of enlistment), Sydney, 18 September 1919.
