'For conspicuous bravery and initiative during the attack of 18th September, 1918 on old British Outpost Line near LE VERGUIER. ON The day of the attack and until the Battalion was relieved, he, acting as C.Q.M.S. kept the front line troops supplied with rations. He took charge of the carrying parties and made repeated trips to the front line under heavy shell fire and difficult conditions. it was due to this N.C.O.'s determination and untiring energy that the ration supply was maintained during very strenuous operations, rendering most valuable services and showing at all times first consideration in tending to the welfare of his Company.'
