Military Medal 'This soldier was a stretcher bearer during the whole of the operations at ROSIERES and LIHONS on August 9th and 11th 1918. With tireless energy night and day, he carried on with his work, generally under heavy artillery and machine gun fire. He showed complete disregard for his own safety and his fine devotion to duty prevented much suffering of wounded men, and probably the loss of several lives.'
