Embarked Alexandria on HT 'Aragon' and proceeded to join British Expeditionary Force, 13 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, 23 June 1916. Transferred toPostal Corps, 7 September 1916; moved out for duty with Postal Service, Perham Downs, 4 April 1917; promoted to ER Corporal, 28 November 1917; promoted to Temporary Sergeant, 8 April 1918; promoted to ER Sergeant, 1 June 1918; moved out on leave, 17 May 1919; rejoined unit from leave, 7 June 1919; detached for duty with Australian Pay Corps, 11 June 1919; detached to 25th Bn, 24 November 1919, and granted indefinite leave, London.

Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Borda', 9 December 1917; disembarked 2nd Military District, 2 February 1920. Discharged Sydney, 2 May 1920.
