Transferred to 2nd Pioneer Bn, 14 March 1916. Proceeded to join British Expeditionary Force; disembarked Marseilles, France. Admitted to 6th Field Ambulance, 22 April 1916 (ingrowing toe nail); discharged to unit, 12 May 1916. Wounded in action (shell shock), and invalided to England, 3 July 1916 (neurasthenia), and admitted to 4th London General Hospital, Denmark Hill, 4 July 1916.
