Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in a raid. He attacked an enemy machine gun, killed some of the crew, and captured two. During the clearing of the enemy trench he displayed fine courage, and throughout the operations set a striking example to his men.'
