Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at PERONNE on 2nd September 1918. Whilst his Section were advancing to the support of the Infantry they suffered many casualties. This N.C.O. was wounded, but he declined to receive attention, but assisted in looking after the other wounded men. He did this work under heavy fire, and would not consent to be evacuated himself until he was satisfied that all of the others had received attention. His splendid example of bravery, coolness and self-sacrificing devotion to duty had an inspiring effect on his comrades.'
