Military Medal 'During the operations of the 24th, 25th and 26th February, this N.C.O. did brilliant and courageous work. On the night of 24th February he was a member of a strong patrol, which was sent out to reconnoitre BAYONET and PORK TRENCHES. The night was very dark, the ground difficult, and strong wire had to be negotiated. CPL. DWYER found a SALLYPORT through the wire, and entered the trench at a point where enemy flares were going up 25 yards each side of him. His courage and resource were of great assistance to his Officers, and he took a conspicuous part in seizing and occupying BAYONET and PORK TRENCHES. When a further advance was made to BAILEY TRENCH, his section was first again to enter hostile trench, and when we were held up by an enemy strong point, extending along the trench to our right boundary, CPL. DWYER led the party which rushed, and carried the strong point. He worked indefatigably until the relief took place on the night of the 26th.'
