Meritorious Service Medal

'This N.C.O. has served with the Battalion during the period February to September 1918, and from May to date has acted as Transport Sergeant. He has always done his work in a most satisfactory manner and has proved himself to be a thorough and reliable N.C.O. His work takes him continually under heavy artillery fire and he has always displayed great resource and initiative in command of his section under trying circumstances. he takes a remarkable interest in keeping the animals in good condition and has gained the confidence and respect of all men in the Transport Section. He has been with the Battalion since its formation and has given faithful service. I strongly recommend him for the Meritorious Service Medal.'
