Military Medal 'Is recommended for conspicuous gallantry and distinguished conduct in action near HAMEL WOOD, east of CORBIE on 4th July, 1918. He showed great dash and leadership throughout the attack. Soon after crossing PEAR TRENCH, this N.C.O.'s platoon was held up by an enemy post about 50 yards to their front, and this post was doing a good deal of damage to the advancing troops. He immediately rallied his men and pressed on leading them with great gallantry, and succeeded in mopping up the post. This N.C.O. has done repeated good work in FRANCE, and is well worthy of recognition.'
