Wounded in action, 28 July 1916 (gun shot wound, chest); admitted to 1/2 South Midland Field Ambulance, 29 July 1916; transferred to 44th Casualty Clearing Station, 29 July 1916; to Ambulance Train No 26, 31 July 1916, and admitted to 13th Stationary Hospital, Boulogne, 31 July 1916 (wound severe: dangerously ill; transferred to England, 13 September 1916, and admitted to Kitchener War Hospital, Brighton, 14 September 1916; transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 13 December 1916; discharged on furlough, 21 December 1916, to report to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, 5 January 1917.

Discharged from Harefield to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth.

Commenced return to Australia from Plymouth on board HT 'Benalla', 13 February 1917; disembarked Melbourne, 16 April 1917; discharged (wounded), Melbourne, 13 May 1917.
