Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For most conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations east of Jeancourt, 18 September, 1918. When the left flank of the battalion was hung up by two field guns, he,with his Lewis gun and in company with another non-commissioned officer, dashed forward and brought fire to bear on the hostile guns with such deadly effect that the crews were put out of action and the guns captured.'
