War service: Egypt, Western Front Disembarked Suez, ex-HMAT 'Geelong', 18 December 1915. Attached to 2nd Anzac Headquarters as an Orderly, Ismailia, 13 May 1916. Admitted to No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Ismailia, 17 May 1916 (scabies); discharged, 25 May 1916, and rejoined 2nd Anzac Headquarters. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 6 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 13 June 1916. Found guilty, 15 June 1916, of when on active service, leaving a troop train without permission, and remaining absent from about 1115 hours, until 1430 hours, the same day: award, admonished. Marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 16 September 1916. Proceeded to unit, 15 October 1916; rejoined 32nd Bn, 18 October 1916. Admitted to 1st Anzac Dressing Station, 2 December 1916 (trench feet); transferred to No 15 Australian Field Ambulance, 3 December 1916; to No 4 General Hospital, Camiers, 4 December 1916; to England, 22 December 1916 (gangrenous toes); to No 3 Australian General Hospital, Brighton, 24 December 1916; to No 1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 13 December 1917.
