Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst engaged as Stretcher Bearer on the morning of 23rd August, 1918, during the construction of a strong point near ST. MARTINS WOOD (Map reference, Sheet 62D, R.29.b.4.3.). The strong point was subjected to heavy shell and machine gun fire, causing many casualties and L/Corporal EDWARDS repeatedly rescued the wounded under heavy fire and showed great courage throughout. He was undoubtedly instrumental in saving the lives of some of his comrades.'
