Military Medal 'On October 4th, 1917. East of YPRES, Gunner ATKINSON carried important despatches from Brigade headquarters to the Batteries under very heavy shell-fire. During the previous operations at YPRES, on two occasions when all traffic was held up and all communications broken by hostie shell-fire, he got despatches through to his battery. This man has done consistent good work, and shown marked devotion to duty.'
