'Was in charge of Company Scouts during operations north of GUEUDECOURT 27th November, 1916, to 6th December, 1916. From 29th November to 3rd December, 1916, he commanded a bombing post in No Man's Land and himself captured a German despatch runner who was carrying valuable information. In addition to his other duties he on several occasions acted as a guide, the duty taking him over heavily shelled areas.'
