War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 5 April 1915. Died on board 'Ionian' off the Gallipoli coast, of wounds received in action, 26 April 1915. Buried at sea. Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal Base Records wrote, 20 February 1926: 'It is noted a discrepancy has unfortunately arisen in reference to the second Christian name of your son ... as "Walter" and it is regretted that it will not be practicable to amend the Register entry at this late juncture.' |
