Military Medal 'During the night 10/11th June, 1918 at the time of the attack by 7th Australian Infantry Brigade, South of MORLANCOURT near ALBERT this man displayed great courage and skill as a Motor Ambulance driver in evacuating wounded from he Regimental Aid Posts to the Relay Post. he drove his car continuously for thirteen hours over a poorly defined track which during the night was subject to frequent bursts of machine gun fire and during the day under direct observation of the enemy. The track was hit several times by shells, but this driver, by some means, succeeded in dodging the shell holes in spite of the darkness and brought load after load of wounded through. By keeping his car running in spite of enemy fire and exceedingly adverse conditions, he did the work of at least thirty stretcher bearers who would otherwise have been needed to carry the wounded over this track.'
