Military Medal 'During the operations of 8th August 1918 in front of HAMEL- VILLERS BRETONNEUX, this N.C.O. was the lead driver of a gun team on the forward section. He showed great coolness and courage by the manner in which he drove his team through heavy fire to and from the gun positions. Later when the wheel horses of his team fell wounded he did splendid work in extricating the maimed horses, assisting to catch, under heavy fire, two horses, harnessing these to his gun limber and driving the nes team to the safety of the rear Battery Wagon Lines. His behaviour throughout the day set a splendid example to the drivers of his team and his courage and devotion to duty are deserving of special recognition.'
