Military Medal 'For great courage and devotion to duty in action East of YPRES on 4th October 1917. During the advance, this man did excellent work as a Company Runner, showing great courage and devotion to duty. On one occasion, he went through a very heavy barrage to bring up reinforcements from the Reserve Company. by his skill, he brought them up into position safely through a particularly heavy curtain of fire.'
