War service (AIF): Egypt, Gallipoli, England Enlisted in the AIF, 23 March 1915. Embarked Melbourne, 25 June 1915, on board HMAT A40 'Ceramic' as 1383 Private, D Company, 19th Bn. Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 16 August 1915. Admitted to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh, 4 December 1915 (haemorrhoids, jaundice); transferred to Mena House Convalescent Hospital, 10 December 1915; discharged to Australian Base, 28 December 1915. Admitted to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, 19 February 1916 (tonsillar abscess).
