Military Medal 'For gallant conduct and devotion to duty during attack on enemy position near MORLANCOUT on the night 5th/6th May, 1918. His platoon was responsible for the left flank of his Company, and under difficult conditions of rain and darkness maintained his direction and alignment, leading his men coolly and intelligently and getting quickly reorganised and consolidating as soon as he reached the final objective. His platoon accounted for a machine gun team, captured the gun and 40 prisoners.'
