'East of WYTSCHAETE from 9th to 14th August 1917 for special good work as Stretcher Bearer. When a shell landed on a 'dug out' and caused casualties he immediately rushed to assist and bandaged wounded and dug out men who were buried. This was done at Company Headquarters in the front line and at the time shell fire was heavy. His work all through was worthy of mention.'
