Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and fine leadership during an attack. When his company commander was wounded he assumed command, and, under heavy enfilading machine gun fire, re-organized the company and led them forward to the final objective, and consolidated his position in spite of the fact that he was wounded. He displayed great courage and ability throughout.'
