War service: Egypt, Western Front Taken on strength, 6th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 7 January 1916. Found guilty, 28 January 1916, of ill-treating a native on the line of march, 24 January 1916: awarded 14 days' Field Punishment No 2. Transferred to 58th Bn, 17 February 1916. Transferred to 59th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 15 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Reported Missing, 19 July 1916. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 29 August 1917, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 19 July 1916'. Statement, Red Cross File No 1040701, 3714 Pte W. CORRIN, 59th Bn, 2 November 1917: 'I saw Casualty killed by H.E. Shell just before the "Hop Over" at Fleurbaix on the 19th July whilst in the trench. His back was smashed by the shell.'
