Meritorious Service Medal

'Farrier-Sergeant FARRER has, during the period from 25th February, 1918, to 16th September, 1918 served with his unit - until 25th March on the MESSINES front, and for the remainder of the period on the front East of AMIENS - in the capacity of Farrier-Sergeant. he has been responsible for the welfare and work of over one hundred and twenty horses. in the advance from VILLERS-BRETONNEUX to the SOMME CANAL between 8th and 31st August horses were extensively used in connection with establishing communications, and their condition was of paramount importance. Farrier Sergeant FARRER rendered invaluable service in the supervision of this branch of the company's work. he has at all times been most devoted and zealous in his duties. In this respect he has been an excellent example to others and has undoubtedly been successful in keeping horses fit for duty at critical periods. His devotion to duty is worthy of special recognition.'
