'On the 11th/12th August, 1918, during operations on the SOMME near PROYART, this Section Commander several times led his section with great fearlessness in rushing enemy posts. He succeeded in putting several posts out of action before the enemy had the opportunity of inflicting heavy casualties on our troops.'
