Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of the construction of a footbridge across the Somme, at Halle, on the 31 August, 1918. The locality was heavily shelled, and his party driven off; but under his leadership returned again and again, until the work was completed.'
