Military Medal 'Mentioned for good work with forward detachment of wagons under C.E. 1st ANZAC. On the 14th October, 1917, near WESTHOEK, when the road was blown up and teams bogged under heavy shell fire, this Driver gallantly assisted to extricate the wagons. With coolness and courage and by devotion to duty only one wagon was abandoned. This same wagon being subsequently destroyed by enemy fire. His conduct throughout this trying period was most soldier like and commendable.'
