Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the period under review he has continually shown a fine example of gallantry and complete disregard of danger in action. On one occasion, when "gassed" he declined to leave his post at the guns, and by his personal example exercised a most inspiring effect on the remaining gunners.'
