War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 5 April 1915. Wounded in action, 8-9 May 1915 (gun shot wound, right leg, both bones fractured); transferred to Deaconesses Hospital, Alexandria, 16 May 1915. Right leg amputated, 10 June 1915. Transferred to England, 14 July 1915; admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, 26 July 1915.
