Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the Field. On 14th July, 1918, during enemy attack on MUSALLABEH SALIENT, he was Signals Corporal at MASKERAH, which Post was isolated and had its communications cut by the enemy. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he went out under very heavy shell fire, and repaired telephone line connecting the post with Second Brigade gaining touch with them. When day broke, he set up a ... station under heavy shell and rifle fire in the open thus obtaining touch with 1st Brigade, which could not have been obtained otherwise. He has done consistently good work in the field from and including GALLIPOLI.'
