Found guilty at Codford, 22 May 1917, of being absent without leave, 8.00 am, 16 May, to 10.40 am, 18 May 1917: awarded 6 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 12 days' pay; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 25 May 1917; marched into Kandahar Barracks, Codford, 29 May 1917. Found guilty, 29 October 1917, of throwing food at one of his comrades when acting as mess orderly: awarded 1 day's detention. Found guilty at Sutton Veny, 18 December 1917, of irregular conduct in that he broke off parade without permission, 17 December 1917: awarded 5 days' Field Punishment No 2 Commenced return to Australia on HS 'Persic', 21 December 1917; disembarked Fremantle, 25 February 1918.
