Taken on strength, Suez Road Camp, 7 December 1915; mustered as Driver, Tel-el-Kebir, 1 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 21 March 1918; disembarked Marseilles, 27 March 1918; mustered as Gunner with 1st Field Artillery Brigade, 2 August 1916; granted leave, 28 June 1917; rejoined unit from leave, 20 July 1917; awarded Military Medal, 30th Imperial Division Artillery.

Wounded in action, Belgium, 17 August 1917; admitted to 32nd Casualty Clearing Station, 18 August 1917 (gun shot wound, abdomen). Died of wounds, 19 August 1917.
