War service: Egypt, Western Front Found guilty, at sea, of breaking ship, missing transport: awarded forfeiture of 5 days' pay. Disembarked Suez, 18 May 1916. Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 6 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 15 June 1916. Found guilty, 11 November 1916, of being absent without leave from 2100 hrs, 2 November, to 2130 hrs, 5 November 1916: awarded forfeiture of a total of 23 days' pay. Found guilty, 7 June 1917, of being absent without leave from Tattoo, 9 pm, 6 June, until apprehended by CQMS at 2100, 7 June 1917: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No. 2; forfeiture of total of 37 days' pay.
