Military Medal Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 184 Date: Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In an attack the man carrying the gun was wounded, and the gun left in the mud. He took the gun crew to the objective, and then went back under heavy fire and fetched the gun. When heavy artillery fire was concentrated on his guns, he moved them forward, and so escaped the bulk of the shelling. On being relieved, two men being badly wounded, he remained behind, bandaged them up, and carried them to cover under a very heavy barrage.'
