Wounded in action and admitted to 2nd Canadian Stationary Hospital, 19 July 1916 (gun shot wound to left thigh); transferred to England, 24 July 1916; admitted to 1st Eastern General Hospital, Cambridge, England, 24 July 1916; discharged from hospital and marched in to Weymouth Command Depot, 24 November 1916.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Kanouna', from Southampton, 14 January 1917; disembarked Melbourne, 8 March 1917; discharged, 16 June 1917.
