Military Medal 'At HANEBEKE WOOD on 20th September 1917 this man, who was a Battalion Runner, throughout the attack showed great courage and devotion to duty. He was constantly carrying messages under heavy enemy shellfire and was always the first to volunteer for any work that was needed. Was continually employed for 12 hours without rest under the most trying circumstances.'
