'During operations near ZONNEBEKE on night of 26th September, 1917, Sergeant FLETCHER led his Platoon with skill and judgment and his cool courage was a great example to his men. He was in charge of wiring parties and though under harrassing fire kept his party working each evening until all material was used up. His actions undoubtedly increased the morale of the troops serving under him.'
