'This N.C.O. has been with the Battalion Transport since its formation, and has always shown great devotion to duty, and at all times carried out cheerfully and thoroughly all orders that have been given him. He is a most capable N.C.O., and by his fine example has inspired a strict sense of discipline amongst his men, and, although it seldom falls to the lot of Battalion Transport to show up conspicuously by deeds of valour, of work, where, only through the cheerfulness and good leadership of the N.C.O. in charge, and expeditiously accomplished. In these ways Sergeant Foster has filled the bill, and his conscientious hard work and devotion to duty has proved him in every way fitted for meritorious award.'
