'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near STRAZEELE on 14th June, 1918. During an enemy attack on our posts Lance Corporal FOWLER took his Lewis Gun into No Man's Land to hold up the enemy advance. By his coolness he assisted in breaking up the enemy attack.'
