Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack West of BELLENGLISE on 18th September, 1918. His section suffered heavy casualties during an enemy barrage and became isolated. Although wounded this N.C.O. rallied his men and led them forward until so badly wounded a second time that he was unable to proceed. His conduct was an admirable example to the men.'
